The Frostborn Reputation Guide

Welcome to Warcraft Tavern’s Reputation Guide for The Frostborn in Wrath of the Lich King Classic! In this guide, we’ll go over all the ways you can gain rep with The Frostborn faction, and cover how they’re related to the other Alliance Vanguard sub-factions. We’ll also discuss the best way to reach Exalted with this faction.

As with most Alliance Vanguard subfactions (Explorers’ League, The Silver Covenant, Valiance Expedition, The Frostborn), there are no Faction Rewards to be gained from The Frostborn. However, half of sub-faction Reputation counts towards the Alliance Vanguard rep, so reaching Exalted in two of the four Alliance Vanguard sub-factions (or the equivalent rep gain spread out over all four sub-factions) is required for reaching Exalted with the Alliance Vanguard.

Trivia: The Frostborn are a race of dwarves native to the Storm Peaks who have recently befriended the Explorer’ League. They re-use the earthen dwarf model, leading some players to speculate that the Frostborn may be earthen dwarves that have adapted to the colder climate of Northrend.

How to Reach Exalted With The Frostborn

This section serves as a TL;DR for the rest of the guide

In brief: Complete all the available non-repeatable Frostborn quests, run the daily once per day, and do heroic dungeons without a tabard on.

There are over a dozen non-repeatable quests that grant rep with the Frostborn — all are found in The Storm Peaks (see section below). There is also a daily quest, Pushed Too Far, that is easy and fun if you like quests with flying mounts. To reach Exalted, you’d need to do all of the regular quests (for a total of 3230 XP) and then do the daily 155 times. Of course, this doesn’t include the aforementioned 50% spillover rep from other Alliance Vanguard factions — in practice, you won’t have to do the daily quite so many times.

You can also earn The Frostborn reputation by running Heroic Instances without a tabard. (H)Utgarde Keep and (H)Utgarde Pinnacle, or (H)Azjol-Nerub and (H)Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom are both excellent choices. Both pairs of dungeons are fairly quick to clear, and each pair has entrances near each other (to save travel time). Optionally, you can also avoid killing the bosses and then exit/re-enter the instances after killing the trash in order to earn even more rep each day.

Gaining The Frostborn Reputation

There are a limited number of ways to gain reputation with The Frostborn. You can do their quests (which are generally picked up in Frosthold), including a single daily, and you can run level 80 instances / any Heroic dungeon. You can also earn The Frostborn rep by gaining reputation with the other Alliance Vanguard sub-factions (Valiance Expedition, The Silver Covenant, and The Frostborn). You’ll receive Frostborn reputation at a rate of 50% of whatever rep you gain with those factions.

The Frostborn Quests

As mentioned above, all of these quests are picked up in The Storm Peaks, and most of them in Frosthold. In addition to the non-repeatable quests, there is a single daily, for which this section includes detailed instructions.

Alliance-only quest

After accepting the quest, you’ll automatically be put on a Stormcrest Eagle, and you can use it to fly northeast to the area north of Brunnhildar Village. The ‘1’ ability on the eagle (Storm Bolt) does a ton of damage and stuns, and it should only take a few Storm Bolts and Swoops (the ‘2’ key ability) to kill each Wyrm. The eagle is slow, so if you’d prefer to just get there quickly, you can ditch the mount — it’s possible to kill plenty of the Stormpeak Wyrms from the ground, and as long as you kill them in the questing zone, it will count towards your objective.

If there’s a lot of competition for quest mobs, try the area southeast of Brunnhildar village — it’s a smaller zone with less mobs, but is therefore less contested.

The Frostborn Dungeons

You can also earn The Frostborn rep by killing mobs in dungeons — the four regular level 80 instances in Northrend will all grant you spillover rep with the four Alliance Vanguard sub-factions (Explorers’ League, The Frostborn, The Silver Covenant, Valiance Expedition). You can do 5 an hour of:

  • Utgarde Pinnacle
  • The Culling of Stratholme
  • The Oculus
  • Halls of Lightning

All Wrath heroic dungeons will also grant rep with the Alliance Vanguard factions. You can run these dungeons like normal, or you can kill the mobs and leave the bosses alive, then exit and re-enter the instance to clear the mobs again. Here are all the dungeons that, when run as a Heroic, will give rep with the Alliance Vanguard factions:

  • Utgarde Keep
  • Utgarde Pinnacle
  • The Nexus
  • The Oculus
  • Halls of Stone
  • Halls of Lightning
  • Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom
  • Azjol-Nerub
  • Dark-Tharon Keep
  • Gundrak
  • The Violet Hold
  • Caverns of Time: Culling of Stratholme
  • Trial of the Champion
  • Forge of Souls
  • Pit of Saron
  • Halls of Reflection

Remember: If you’re trying to gain Frostborn rep in dungeons, remove any tabard you’re wearing before you start the dungeon.

The Frostborn Reputation Rewards

There is no Frostborn quartermaster, as there are no item rewards for this faction! However, doing The Frostborn quests does, as we’ve mentioned, also give you reputation with the Alliance Vanguard, who have a quartermaster and plenty of items to sell once you’ve earned enough reputation with them.
